Ruby Bonita Humphrey

MISHAWAKA - Ruby Bonita Humphrey, 68, of Eastgate Circle, died of natural causes at 11:25 a.m. Monday in her home. Mrs. Humphrey was a retired cook. She was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Sarasota, Fla.

 

On Feb. 17, 1946, in South Bend, as Ruby Finehout, she married Melvin B. Humphrey Jr. He died March 12, 1989. She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn C. Piechorowski of Mission Viejo, Calif., Nancy D. Andert of Lakeville and Anna M. Carpe of Elkhart; three sons, Mel B. III and Charlies L., both of Walkerton and James C. Sr. of Mishawaka; 15 grandchildren, including Teri L. Hatton of Mishawaka; four great-grandchildren; six sisters, Francis Angelo, Jean Street, Lily Lents and Mary Nell Wheeler, all of Benton Harbor, Alda Bradley of Andolusa, Ala., and Doris Powell of Adrian, Mich.; and a brother, Donnie Finehout of Benton Harbor. She was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, South Bend.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Cremation will take place. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
