WILLIAM J. HUMPHREY

William J. Humphrey, 76, of 738 E. Woodside and Birch Lake Vandalia, Mich., was found dead at 12:15 p.m. Monday in his home here after an unexpected illness. He was former product engineer for the Studebaker Corp., and later worked for Kaiser Jeep Corp. Born on March 19, 1904 in South Bend, he had lived here all his life. On August 10, 1929 in Fort Wayne, he married Dorothy M. Zimmerman, who died on May 28, 1980. He was survived by five sisters; Mrs. Viola Hanley, Mrs. Iva Bueche, Mrs. Alice Cochran and Mrs. Elsie Horvath, all of South Bend, and Mrs. Myrtle Orr of Texas; and two brothers, Aloysius of Plymouth and Marvin of Claifornia.

      The McGann Funeral Home is handling arrangements. He was a member of Elks Lodge 235, and co-founder with his wife of the Shoe and Slipper Dancing Club

HUMPHREY – Services for William J. Humphrey, 76, of 738 E. Woodside and Birch Lake Vandalia, Mich., who was found dead Monday in his home here after an unexpected illness, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the McGann Funeral Home. Rev. Daryl Rybicki, associate pastor of St. Matthew Cathedral, will officiate. Entombment will be in Highland Mausoleum. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
