James Robert Hums

MISHAWAKA - James R. Hums, 68, of Winding Brook Drive, died at 6:14 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, of natural causes. Mr. Hums retired in 1993 after 50 years of service from Englewood Electric Co., South Bend.

 

He was born Sept. 8, 1925, in Mishawaka, and was a lifelong area resident. He is survived by a sister, Mary Bogan of Mishawaka; and two brothers, William and Thomas, both of Mishawaka.

 

He was a member of the ushers club of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1878 and Elks Lodge 235.

 

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Gibault School for Boys, Terre Haute, Ind.
