Leola E. Hunsberger

Leola E. (Ole) Hunsberger, 72, of 15710 Woodland Ave., Wyatt, Ind., died at her residence at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17. 1997.

 

She retired with 15 years of service from K-Mart and was a homemaker. She was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Elkhart Co., Ind., to Hilbert and Lena (Bennett) Schlemmer and was an area resident all of her life.

 

On Sept. 26, 1942, in South Bend, Ind., she married Donald (Don) A. Hunsberger and he survives along with daughters, Mary Zakrzeski of Mishawaka, Ind., and Nancilou Koch of South Bend; and sons, Thomas Hunsberger of South Bend and Donald W. Hunsberger, M.D., of Montpelier, Ind. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters Violet Schlemmer of Belton, Texas, and Cletus Hartman of Elkhart, Ind. Four sisters preceded her in death.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the St. John United Church of Christ, Woodland, Ind., of which she was a member. The Rev. Ken Seiffert, pastor of the church, will officiate.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at The Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, Ind., and one hour before services in the church on Tuesday.

 

At the request of the family, memorials may be given to the church. Leola was active in her church as well as sewing and quilt making.
