Jeanne Eckert Hunter

GRANGER - Jeanne Eckert Hunter, 82, of Granger, IN, died at 2:36 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2006, in Hospice House. Mrs. Hunter was born June 11, 1924, in Cincinnati, OH, to the late George and Julia Ann (Clark) Willman, and had lived in the South Bend area since 1951, coming from Columbus, OH.

On March 16, 1943, in Grand Rapids, she married Forrest W. Eckert, who preceded her in death November 21, 1975. In 1982, in South Bend, she married Phillip V. Hunter, who preceded her in death December 20, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Van Dyke. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Eckert Rock (Robert) of Plantation, FL; a son, William J. Eckert (Stephanie) of Carmel, IN; a stepdaughter, Cynthia Hunter-Cockman (Len) of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Mike, Steve (Dana), John (Jodi), Anna and David, Christiann, C. Hunter and Andrew; and a great-granddaughter, Carly. Jeanne loved fishing, sewing and crafts, and loved her bridge groups. Affectionately known as Grandma Zeta, she loved spending time with her family. A thoughtful and loving person who always put others' needs first, she will be dearly missed. We are at peace knowing she is with Our Lord for all Eternity.

Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, with Rev. Mel Meyer of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elkhart, officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services on Tuesday in the funeral home.
