James Emery Hupp

May 16, 1908January 14, 1987

 

James Emery Hupp, 78, of Bradenton FL, formerly of Mishawaka, died at 4;10am Wednesday in his home after an illness.  He had been owner-operator of the River Park Variety Store in South Bend for several years.  He retired from Associates Investment Co in 1954 as a vice president in charge of establishing branch offices.

 

Born May 16, 1908, in Mishawaka, Mrs. Hupp had lived in Clearwater FL, from 1955 until moving to Bradenton about a year ago.  He is survived by two brothers, Rolland Hupp of Inverness FL and Lawrence M. Hupp of Niles; and 25 nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be at 11am next Thursday, in Bubb Funeral Chapel, Mishawaka.  Burial will be in St Joseph Valley Memorial Park.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Wednesday in the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

Mr. Hupp was a 50-year member of Mishawaka Masonic Lodge 130; a 50 year member of the York Rite in South Bend; Osceola Masonic Lodge 83; the Scottish Rite in South Bend; and the Orak Shrine Temple of Hammond.  He was a captain in the Ferry Command during WW II and belonged to the Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he taught ship captain’s training.
