Sister M. Francis Hurley CSC, 82, of Saint Mary’s Convent died there at 8:35 p.m. TuesdayShe was born March 7, 1903 in Woodstock, Ill. and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s in February 1926. She was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1926 and made her professional vows two years later. As a teacher she served in elementary and secondary schools. In South Bend she taught at Holy Cross Elementary School, the former St. Joseph Academy, St. Joseph Grade School and at St. Joseph High School where she served 1955-56 and 1967-1984. She also taught in LaPorte, Hammond and Michigan City, and in Illinois schools in Peoria, Morris, Chicago, Harward and Danville. She is survived by a sister, Sister M. Dolorata Hutley CSC of Valparaiso.

 

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s. Friends may call today and Friday in the convent parlors, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. today.
