William A. Huys

William A. Huys, 84, of Bowman Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8, in Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, Ind.

 

Bill was born on Jan. 4, 1916, in Baker, Ore., to the late Camiel and Emerence (Van De Wiele) Huys. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Yvonne Hiler and Mary Molnar; and by three brothers, Gerard, George and Frank Huys.

 

On May 25, 1940, Bill married the former Geraldine M. Coryn in St. Bavo Church, Mishawaka. She preceded him in death on April 14, 1993.

 

He is survived by two daughters, Cindy K. (John) Urbin of Mishawaka and Diane M. (Charles) Imus of Osceola, Ind.; three sons, Kenneth F. (Christi) Huys of Mishawaka, William G. (JoAnn) Huys of Granger, Ind., and David M. (Sue) Huys of Cassopolis, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Adeline Windsor of Mishawaka; and by a brother, Albert Huys of Mishawaka.

 

Bill was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka, the Eagles Aerie 2083, the BK Club, and the DeAmicis Club. He had owned and operated the Huys Grocery Store until June 1967, then worked at Jordan Transfer in Mishawaka.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 10, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

 

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, in Queen of Peace Church, with Fr. Elden Miller officiating.

 

Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
