Sister Mary Rhoda CSC, 90, died Saturday in Saint Mary’s Convent. She was the eldest Sister in the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. She was born Edythe Hyde in Baker City, Ore. in 1878. She received her education in Oreana, Idaho and St. Theresa’s Academy in Boise, Idaho. She entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1900 and received the habit the same year. She made her profession of vows in 1902. During her community life she taught at St. Mary’s Academy; Notre Dame; and in LaPorte; Alexandria, Va.; Washington DC; Nampa and Boise, Idaho; and Eureka, Utah. She retired to the convent in 1963.

 

The requiem high mass will be offered in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto on St. Mary’s campus at 3 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call at the convent parlor until 7:30 p.m. today and on Monday until the time of services.
