Sister Mary Aldegonda Irving CSC

Sister Mary Aldegonda CSC, died Wednesday night in Saint Mary’s Convent after an extended illness. She was born Margaret J. Irving on Clyman, Wis., in 1883.She was educated in Wisconsin and at St. Mary’s College, and entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1902, receiving the habit the same year. She made her profession of final vows in 1908, During her community life she taught at St, Mary’s Academy in South Bend; St. Mary’s Academy in Alexandria, Va.; St. Vincent’s School in Elkhart; St. Mary’s School in Union City, Ind.; St. Mary’s School in Union City, Ind.; St. Mary’s School in Woodstock, Ill.; St. Peter’s School in LaPorte; and St. Mary’s School in Anderson, Ind. Surviving is a brother, Rev. Thomas Irving CSC of Notre Dame; and a sister, Sister Mary Cecilita CSC of St. Mary’s Convent.

 

The requiem high mass will be offered at 8:30 a.m. Friday in the Church of Loretto, with her brother Rev. Irving being the celebrant. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s. Friends may call at the convent parlors.
