Donald L. Jacobs Sr.

Donald L. Jacobs Sr., 67, of Mishawaka, Ind., died after a short illness on Saturday, Jan. 13, at home.

He was born on April 1, 1933, in Shermansdale, Pa., to Harry Glen Jacobs and Ethel (Brown) Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs graduated from Mishawaka High School, and completed an apprenticeship to become a tool and die maker. He retired from Bendix/Allied Signal in 1999 with 48 years of service. He served as shop steward for 25 years, and also held a position on the executive board for many years. He was an Army veteran, and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He loved target shooting.

 

On Jan. 19, 1952, he married June D. Wiendels, who preceded him in death on Sept. 3, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his father. He is survived by four children, Donald (Bonnie) Jacobs of Osceola, Ind., Jeanne (Kim) Lehman of Bremen, Ind., John (Jenni) Jacobs and Mark (Cheryl) Jacobs, both of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren, Michael Jacobs of South Bend, Tiffany (Charlie) Meyers of Carmel, Ind., Ashley Jacobs of Osceola, Ind., Melissa (Jason) Conlee of Osceola, Mandy Lehman of Bremen, Ind., Heather Jacobs of Elkhart, Ind., and Angela Jacobs and Tyler Jacobs, both of Mishawaka; and by four great-grandchildren, Skylar Conlee of Osceola, Brenden Boots of Mishawaka, and Kagen and Kayla Thacker of Elkhart. He is also survived by his mother, Ethel Jacobs; two sisters, Beulah (Edward) Rosenbalm and Barbara (Jerome) Turzewski; and by a brother, Harry (Nancy) Jacobs, all of Mishawaka.

 

Visitation was held on Monday, Jan. 15, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel in Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 16, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437.
