Kay L. James

July 16, 1935 - October 31, 1989

 

Kay L. James, 54, of 61277 Alexander Drive, Vandalia, formerly of South Bend, died at 4:21pm Tuesday in Memorial Hospital.  Mr. James retired in 1981 from the South Bend Fire Department as senior engineer for Engine Company 4 and was a former maintenance supervisor of JCPenney Co. Inc.

 

He was born July 16, 1935, in South Bend.  On April 19, 1958, in South Bend, he married Ellen G. Philotoff, who survives.  Also surviving are tow daughter, Mary Harding of South Bend and Catherine James at home; two sons, Stephen of South Solon OH and Kenneth at home; four grandchildren; a brother, Thome R. of Granger; and his mother, Ella H. James of Mishawaka.

 

He was a member of Knights of Columbus in Dowagiac and Cass County Snowmobile Club, was a eucharistic minister and member of St Anne's Catholic Church in Cassopolis, served as a Cass County 4-H leader and was a graduate of Bethel College, Mishawaka.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 9pm Thursday in Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 8pm.  The bod will be taken to the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis, where friends may call from 10am to 12:30pm Friday.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Services will be at 1pm Friday in St Anne's Catholic C
