Anna R. Jarvis
Nov. 9, 1918 - May 10, 2001

Anna Ruth Jarvis, 82, of East Fairview, South Bend, died after a short illness in Hospice House on Thursday, May 10, 2001.

Anna was born on November 9, 1918, in Tipton, Co., Indiana to John and Laura (Bogue) Fennell. On February 25, 1940, as Anna Ruth Fennell, she married Elzie E. Jarvis and he preceded her in death on January 14, 1983. A daughter, Phyllis Cox also preceded her in death on December 16, 1987.

Surviving Anna is a daughter, Lois (Harold) Messenger of Niles, MI and a son, Jerry (Debby) Jarvis of South Bend. Nine grandchildren, Glenn Cox, Daniel Messenger, Debra Adams, Christopher Jarvis, Timothy Messenger, Michael Cox, Lisa Edgerly, Karin Jarvis, and Jamie Burger also survive. Ten great-grandchildren, Stacy Cox, Kyle Cox, Joshua Walker, Caleb Walker, Candice Walker, Isaiah Walker, Nichole Edgerly, Ashley Edgerly, Alacyn Cox, and Mikayla Cox also survive. Anna dearly loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Anna is also survived by her sisters, Bea Gray of Decatur, IN, Della Buckley and Laura Gray, both of Sharpsville, IN, and Carol Ann Height of Peru, IN and her brother, Georgie (Kathryn) Fennell of Arcadia, IN.

Anna was very involved with the women's ministry at Calvary Temple where she was a member. She bowled in several leagues for over 40 years at the Chippewa Bowl. Anna always looked forward to her vacations at Silver Dollar City in Missouri.

Funeral services for Anna Jarvis will be held at 2 p.m. today, May 12, 2001, in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN, where the family will greet callers from noon until service time. Burial will take place in Southlawn Cemetery.
