Beverly M. Simeri Jennings

Oct. 8, 1951 - April 30, 2010 SOUTH BEND - Beverly M. Simeri Jennings, 58, passed away on Friday afternoon, April 30, 2010, with her husband and family at her side. She was born in South Bend, Indiana, on October 8, 1951, to Vincent J. and Natalie (Linarello) Simeri, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her devoted husband, Randall W. Jennings; her loving sisters, Teresa (Sam) Jermano, Jane Simeri (Frank Gorczyca); and brother, Joseph V. (Kathleen) Simeri. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Jeri Dull, Nella Puttnam and Colean McCoy. Our Beverly was a generous and doting aunt to Elisabeth, James and Susanne Simeri, Jennifer Jermano Miller and Stephen Gorczyca. She had a special place in her heart for her great-nieces and nephews, Saverio and Sabrina Miller, Joseph, Elaine and Louisa Simeri. A host of relatives, co-workers and friends mourn her loss and will miss her. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy and attended Indiana University South Bend. Beverly was a loyal and dedicated employee of the University of Notre Dame Hesburgh Libraries for 38 years. She was currently a Library Specialist in Government Documents. She served as a lector at Little Flower Catholic Church. Beverly was an avid fan of the University of Notre Dame's women's basketball team, enjoyed music, theater, watching old movies, going out for breakfast with friends, and sitting on the front porch listening to her wind chimes. She was a beautiful and gentle person; her friends were numerous - from all walks of life. Her time and many talents were generously shared, never expecting anything in return. Our family is amazed by the number of people gracing us with their stories of Beverly's acts of kindness. Luke says "And he who humbles himself will be exalted." This is our Beverly. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4th, at McGann Hay Funeral Home, 2313 East Edison Road at Ironwood, where the Holy Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame, Indiana, at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5th. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame. Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
