SOUTH BEND - Henry J. Johanns, 83, of
Nadine Street, died at 10:08 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's
Medical Center. Mr. Johanns retired from Norwalk Truck Lines in
1972, after 25 years of service. He was born Aug. 30, 1910, in
Effingham, Ill., and lived in South Bend since 1936, coming from
Illinois.
On Feb. 10, 1931, in Charleston, Ill., he
married Madeline M. Hoffman. She died July 15, 1989. He is
survived by a daughter, Carole Good of South Bend; three
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 364 and
St. Monica's Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Services will be at 11
a.m. Monday in the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial
Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Sunday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a
wake will be at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to
the American Lung Association.
