Byron L. Johnson

October 5, 1864November 17, 1946

 

Byron L. Johnson, aged 82, of 608½ East Monroe Street, a veteran of the Spanish-American War, died at 12:22pm Sunday in the Veteran’s Hospital, Hines IL.  He had been in failing health for several years.

 

Mr. Johnson was born in Churubusco IN, October 5, 1864, and moved to South Bend eight years ago from Mishawaka where he resided for 40 years.  He married Linnie Smith in Mishawaka November 22, 1922.

 

Surviving are his widow; two stepsons, Harrt T. Smith and Harold N. Smith, of South Bend; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Clarence D. Ruffner, of South Bend; a brother, Will Johnson, of Mishawka; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

 

He served as a private with Company G, Fourth Missouri Regiment during the Spanish-American War and was a member of the Harry O. Perkins Camp.  Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Bubb Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
