Lotus M. Johnson

Lotus M. Johnson, 84, of Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton, Ind., formerly of South Bend, died at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, in Miller's Merry Manor. She was born on Feb. 9, 1915, in Wheatfield, Ind., to Ethel Pearl (King) and Orville Fisher, both of whom preceded her in death.

 

On Feb. 4, 1939, in Rensselaer, Ind., as Lotus M. Fisher, she married Leslie Edward Johnson, who preceded her in death on April 23, 1985. Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Karen Davis and her husband, Larry of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Joyce Sinkiewicz and her husband, Richard, of Merrillville, Ind.; a son, Richard Johnson and his wife, Marcia of South Bend; eight grandchildren, Gary Davis, Cheryl Sherbondy, Patricia Davis, Tammy Rush, Melissa Buher, Cynthia Johnson, Debra Grabowski and Lynda Johnson; seven great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Alene Epler of Rensselaer and Jean LaPointe of Pine Village, Ind.

 

Mrs. Johnson retired in 1980 after 25 years of service from the South Bend Community School Corp., where she was a cook. She was a member of Monson Chapel United Methodist Church, South Bend.

 

Services for Mrs. Johnson will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. Williams Street. Rev. David Henry, minister at Monson Chapel, will conduct the services. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Northern Indiana Chapter, Jefferson Medical Arts Building, 919 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46617-3119.
