Edwin Jozwiak

March 27, 1918September 4, 1997

Edwin Jozwiak, 79, of Leer Street, South Bend, died following an illness at 2:35pm on Thursday, September 4, in his home.

He was born March 27, 1918, in South Bend, and lived in the area all his life.  He retired from United Conveyor Corporation in 1980 after 24 years of service.

On April 27, 1946, he married Loretta Krawczyk, who survives.  He is also survived by two daughters, Sandra (Ron) Neirynck of Walkerton IN and Denise Chambers of Mishawaka; two sons, Timothy (Carol) Jozwiak of Elkhart IN, Mark (Jennifer) Jozwiak of South Bend; six grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; one great grandson; and by a sister, Marie Wesolowski of South Bend.

He was preceded in death by an infant twin son, David; a sister, Cecelia Nowak; and five brothers, John, Joseph, Stanley, Tony and Emil.

Mr. Jozwiak served during WW II in the Pacific with the 7th Calvary.  He was honored with the Bronze and Silver Medals for bravery in the Pacific.  He was a member of the First Calvary Division Association, St Matthew Cathedral and American Legion Pulaski Post 357.

Services will be at 10am Monday at St Matthew Cathedral with burial to follow in St Joseph Cemetery.
