Sister M. Casimir CSC, 75, a former teacher in St. Hedwig School, South Bend, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend. She was one of the pioneer teachers in St. Hedwig Parish and began her teaching duties in the grade school of the parish in 1888, with the late Sister M. Verena CSC. It was the year when after a fire which destroyed the original wooden school, the present three-story brick structure was opening She was born in Poland and came here from Chicago. Her maiden name was Miss Thecia Jurek. Twelve years ago she retired to St. Mary’s Convent after a long period of teaching the fourth and fifth grades of the school.

 

 

The funeral mass will be said at 7 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at St. Mary’s and the funeral will follow at 10 a.m. in the convent cemetery. Friends are being received in the community infirmary at St. Mary’s.
