Betty J. Kalil (April 28, 1923 - March 14, 2003)

OSCEOLA — Betty J. Kalil, 79, of Lincoln Way West, died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of natural causes. Survivors include two daughters, Diane Rumpler of Granger and Sue Persun of Osceola; and a son, Peter Kalil of Osceola. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Palmer Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m.

Betty J. Kalil (April 28, 1923 - March 14, 2003)

Betty J. Kalil, 79, residing on Lincoln Way West., Osceola, Ind., passed away at 4:50 p.m. Friday, March 14, in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

She was employed for 30 years, 1938-1968, with Uniroyal Corporation in the fuel cell division and retired from Penn High School cafeteria where she served from 1968-1983. Mrs. Kalil was born on April 28, 1923, in South Bend, to Noble and Rose (Hinchko) Grubbs, and was a lifelong area resident. On Aug. 1, 1942, in Mishawaka, Ind., she married Peter B. Kalil, who preceded her in death in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her son, James Kalil in 1965; a grandson, D.J. Rumpler in 1989; and by a sister, Clara Horstmann in 1972.

 

Mrs. Kalil is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Diane and Don Rumpler of Granger, Ind., and Sue and Rick Persun of Osceola; one son and his wife, Peter and Theresa Kalil of Osceola; nine grandchildren, Bob (Nikki) Rumpler of Plymouth, Ind., Curt Rumpler of Mishawaka, Jennifer Peterson of Osceola, Zach Persun of Mishawaka, PFC Jeremy Kalil of Osceola, Scott (Laura) Kalil of Osceola, James (Robin) Kalil of Goose Creek, S.C., Jakoda Snider of South Bend and Shayann Collins of Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Kalil of Mishawaka, and Gabrelle Kalil and Cassie Kalil, both of Goose Creek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 17, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka. Rev. Elden Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home-Osceola, 1109 Lincoln Way West, Osceola, where a parish Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.
