Helen Kallinger

Funeral services for Helen Baraso Kallinger, 82, of South Bend, Ind., will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, in Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1836 Portage Avenue, South Bend, where she was a lifelong member. Rev. Don. Neely will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 5, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 North Bendix Drive, South Bend. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery in South Bend. Friends may call one-half hour prior to services in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Presbyterian Church. Kaniewski Funeral Homes is assisting with arrangements.

 

Mrs. Kallinger died Friday, Jan. 3, in Indianapolis, Ind., where she had resided for the past year. She was the youngest of eight children, born June 2, 1920, in South Bend, to Ferencz Barasso and Julianna Felesege, who immigrated to the U.S. from Hungary. Mrs. Kallinger was the widow of Frank Kallinger Sr., to whom she was married for 60 years prior to his death on Oct. 14, 1998.

 

Mrs. Kallinger is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Siatkowski of Mishawaka, Ind.; her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Nancy Kallinger of Indianapolis; three granddaughters, Eileen Phillips of Cincinnati, Ohio, Charlene McDonald and husband, Brad of Mishawaka, and Suzanne Novotny and husband, Joe of Raeford, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Kristen and Brianna McDonald of Mishawaka, and Nicholas Phillips of Cincinnati.
