Sister Mary Leona Knickerbocker CSC

Sister Mary Leona CSC, of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. Died Sunday afternoon in Saint Mary’s Convent, after an extended illness. She was born Martha L. Knickerbocker in New York City in 1876. She was educated in New York City and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1893, receiving the habit the same year. She made her profession of final vows in 1899. During her community life she was stationed in Ogden, Utah; Austin, Texas; Fresno and Los Angeles California; and Boise, Idaho. She had been a resident of St. Mary’s for several years.

 

A requiem high mass will be held at 7 a.m. Tuesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at St. Mary’s with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call in the convent parlor.
