Sister M. Raymunda (Mary Agnes Knowles), CSC, 80, was born in Washington, D.C., to Raymond Lawrence Knowles and Julia Ann Havenner Knowles. Sister is survived by her sister, Charlotte (Carroll) Jones; and a niece, Mary Agnes Brooke, both of Maryland; and her nephews, Thomas Luskey of Virginia and Sean Brooke of West Virginia.

Before entering the Congregation, Sister Raymunda worked in the stenographic department of the telephone company in what was then the Archdiocese of Baltimore. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1941, and made final vows in 1946.

Sister taught in the Congregation's schools in Pennsylvania, Virginia, New York and New Jersey for 13 years. She was asked to change her field of concentration to business. In order to be proficient in this new field, Sister received her bachelor degree in business from Dunbarton College and her master's degree in business from Boston University. She then taught business, accounting and secretarial classes in the high schools. As the teacher of these classes, Sister was usually chairman of the department in the schools in which she taught.

After retiring from teaching, Sister Raymunda was the accountant for the Academy of Holy Cross, Kensington, Md., until 1990, when she came to Saint Mary's. She kept busy with business and accounting activities until her health declined and she became active in ministry of prayer at Saint Mary's Convent. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
