Frank J. Kocsis

Frank J. Kocsis, 73, of Ontario Road in Niles, Mich., formerly of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, Jan. 21, in his home. Mr. Kocsis was born Nov. 19, 1929, to Frank and Elizabeth (Ach) in Mishawaka.

 

On Aug. 7, 1999, Frank married the former Judith J. Briney of Niles. She survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Cynthia J. Johnson and her husband, Robert of Mishawaka, and their children Jennifer and Mark; Angela Rajski and her husband, Denny of Carmel, Ind., and their daughter, McKenzie; a stepson, Steven Adkins of South Bend, Ind.; stepdaughters, Molly Jeon and her husband, Chooyun of Bloomington, Ind., and their children Sophie and Solon; Nancy Spahr and her husband, Dick of Indianapolis, Ind., and their children, Christopher, Kelsey and Kyla; his brother, Eugene Kocsis and his wife, Shirley of Florida; and two sisters, Olga Szabo and Matilda Williams and her husband, Duane, both of South Bend; and by a great-grandchild, Elizabeth. Frank was preceded in death by his wife June in 1998.

 

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Ind. Services will be conducted by Reverend Paul Blend of the Community Congregation Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

 

Mr. Kocsis was a veteran of the Korean War, serving his country in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1955. Frank was employed as a maintenance engineer for many years at Memorial Hospital in South Bend until his retirement in 1992. Frank was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping with his children in their youth camping organizations. Mr. Kocsis loved NASCAR, and was also known to his family as a "fix-it man" and enjoyed doing those things around his home. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

Editor: On 5-30-1954 he married June E. Palmer in St. Joseph County IN. She died 1-23-1998.
