SOUTH BEND - Sister Mary Margaret (Sister M. Leo Irene)
Koester, 82, was born in Anderson, IN, to the late Leo Joseph
Koester and Irene Rose Haury Koester. Sister is survived by her
twin, Sister M. Leo Joseph CSC, and sister, Henriette
(George) Blossom, sister-in-law, Mary Jo Koester; niece,
Julie Broderick and nephews, Cliff Blossom and Joseph E. Blossom,
all in Anderson; nieces, Mary Jane Clutch of Tennessee and
Toby Ann Spanyer of Kentucky. She is predeceased by her
two bothers, Leo Paul and L. John Koester. Sister practiced
nursing for 22 years in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Idaho.
She was hospital chaplain for 13 years at St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center, South Bend and St. John's Hospital, Anderson. A
high spot for her was nurse/councilor for St. Mary's College in
the Rome Program, Rome, Italy. Additional special experience was
as a staff member at Mater Ecclesiac Center, Tiberius, Israel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Reception of the Body will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, November 23 and funeral services to follow at 10:30 a.m. in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
