Howard Kohler

SOUTH BEND - Services for Howard Kohler, 72, of Thonotosassa, Fla., formerly of South Bend, who died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday in Tampa (Fla.) University Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Hillsborough County, 3010 W. Azeele, Tampa, Fla. 33629.

 

Mr. Kohler retired in 1979 from Uniroyal, Mishawaka. He was born Sept. 26, 1921, in Mishawaka, and lived in this area most of his life.

 

On Aug. 1, 1942, in Mishawaka, he married Zelda McGary. She survives with three daughters, Carol Barnhart of Mishawaka, Linda VanTornhout and Marge Janiszewski, both of South Bend; a son, Robert of Mishawaka; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary O'Conner of Marcellus, Geneva Haskell of Osceola and Elizabeth Chamberlin of Mishawaka; and a brother, Arthur of Elkhart. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 9820 and the Moose Lodge in Tampa.
