Rachel M. Koloszar (Feb. 11, 1923 - Aug. 16, 2002)

Rachel M. Koloszar, 79, of Prairie Avenue, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, in the Regency Place Nursing Home.

Mrs. Koloszar was born on Feb. 11, 1923, in South Bend, Ind., to Rene and Octavia Baele. Rachel worked for the former Studebaker Corporation in the administration building, and was an active member of Our Lady of Hungary Church.

On May 14, 1949, in South Bend, as Rachel Baele, she married Joseph J. Koloszar, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Ellen Rose (Phil) Wilke of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sons, David R. (Shirley) Koloszar of Granger, Ind., and Michael J. (Jan) Koloszar of Russiaville, Ind.; six grandchildren, Joseph Koloszar, Kristin Koloszar, Erin Koloszar, Kelli Koloszar, Grant Koloszar and Rachel Wilke; and by two brothers, Roger (Mary) Baele and Henry Baele, both of South Bend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Hungary Church Building Fund or to the Alzheimer Association.

SOUTH BEND — Rachel M. Koloszar, 79, of Prairie Avenue, died Friday in Regency Place Nursing home. Survivors include her husband, Joseph J.; a daughter, Ellen R. Wilke of Grand Rapids; two sons, David R. of Granger and Michael of Russiaville, Ind.; and a two brothers, Roger Baele and Henry Baele, both of South bend. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Zahoran Funeral home, where a rosary will be said at 3 p.m.
