Edwin L. Konkol

April 11, 1926August 29, 1990

 

Edwin L. Konkol, 65, of 4014 W Washington St., died about 11:55pm Wednesday in his home after an illness.  Mr. Konkol was a conductor for Grand Trunk Railroad for 39 years.

 

He was born April 11, 1925, in Chicago, but spent most of his life in this area.  On May 3, 1947, in South Bend, he married Rita V. Gembarzewski.  She survives, with five daughters, Linda Buchalo of Elmhurst IL, Margaret Huntine of Fort Wayne, Barbara Balbo of Camden MI and Mary Bucszek and Jeanne Reed, both of South Bend; three sons, Kenneth of Henderson KY, Michael of San Diego, and John at home; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Dolores Myszak of South Bend. 

 

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9820, American Legion Bendix Post 284, Mruks Club and was a veteran of WW II.

 

Services will be at 10am Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church.  Burial will be at St Joseph Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Friday at Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 7:30pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St Joseph County Inc.
