Dr. Stanley Michael Koscielski

SOUTH BEND - Dr. Stanley Michael Koscielski, 63, of East Jefferson Boulevard, died at 11:37 a.m. Monday in his home after an illness. Dr. Koscielski had served as a staff member at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Memorial Hospital and Healthwin Hospital and Nursing Home and became St. Joseph County coroner in 1971, serving until 1976. He was born April 15, 1932, in South Bend.

 

On June 27, 1959, in South Bend, he married Catherine Germano. She survives with a daughter, Marie Gerken of South Bend; three sons, Mark A. of Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Matthew F. of South Bend, and Paul J. of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; four sisters, Alice Lesniewski, Eleanor Koscielski and Elizabeth Griffin, all of South Bend, and Jeanette Zakrzewski of New Carlisle. Dr. Koscielski was a board member of Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc. and past president of Northern Indiana Historical Society. He was a graduate of Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and also attended the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University. He was a Korean War veteran.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Basilica. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today in Our Lady Chapel of the basilica, where a rosary-wake service will be at 8 p.m. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
