Louise Josephine Kotoske

September 26, 1909 – July 26, 1996

 

Louise Josephine Kotoske of 718 Sancome Avenue, South Bend, passed away Friday, July 26, in St Mary’s Community Hospital.

 

Louise was born September 26, 1909.  She married Michael Kotoske, who preceded her in death in 1925.  The union of Louise and Michael produced eight sons, two of whom expired at birth.

 

Survivors are Dr. Donald E. Kotoske of South Bend IN, Roger of Champaign IL, Jerome of Los Gatos CA, Thomas of Palo Alto CA, Brian of San Jose CA and David of South Bend.  The marriage produced nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

 

Louise Kotoske was a lifelong member so Holy Cross Church.  She was active in the Boy Scout program and was one of the original founders of the Harvest House at Holy Cross.  She was lifelong attendee of the Forever Learning Institute and was a contributor of human interest stories to the South Bend Tribune.

 

Her parents were Salvatore and Frances Gallo of LaPorte IN, now deceased.  Her brothers and sisters include Joseph Gallo of LaPorte IN, Margaret Freeze of Kingsford Heights IN, Loretta Howard of Punta Gorda FL, and Paul of TX.  Her sister Mary Hague, preceded her in death last year.

 

Visitation will be on Monday form 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend IN.  Services will be on Tuesday at 11am at Holy Cross Catholic Church.  A prayer service will be said at 7:30pm in the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dalton Metcalf Education Fund, Dalton being her great grandchild who is a special child.  She was loved by all.  Her spirit will be with us forever.
