John A. Kotzenmacher

April 15, 1913 - February 15, 2002

John A. Kotzenmacher, 88 of Dayton Ohio, formerly of South Bend, passed away Friday February 15, in Friendship Village Nursing Home in Trotwood, OH. John was born on April 15, 1913 in South Bend as the son of the late Andrew Ignatius and Barbara (Rhea) Kotzenmacher. Three brothers also preceded John in death.

 

On February 7, 1944 in South Bend John married the former Helen Jane Trowbridge. John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen; his daughter, Mary Ann Coffey of Laurel, MD; his stepson and daughter-in-law, Scott (Joy) King of Dayton, OH; two grandchildren, Cynthia (Roger) Conatser of Woodbridge, VA, Christopher King of Detroit, MI; two great granddaughters, Hunter and Hayden Conatser of Woodbridge, VA.

 

John was a resident of South Bend from 1913 to 1996; He graduated from Riley High School and attended the South Bend Business College. John attended the Saint Mary of the Assumption Church. He was a member of the South Bend Lions Club, the Saint Stephens German Society. He was a long-time umpire and a member of the Softball Umpires Association. John retired in 1993 from Real Services in South Bend, where he was the Director of Administrative Services. His lengthy resume includes Director of Administration for the Housing Allowance Programs of both South Bend and Niles, Michigan. For many years, he was the Auditor of the City Water Works, South Bend.

 

Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday in Hahn Funeral Home with Rev. Paul McCarthy of St. Mary of the Assumption officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, South Bend.
