Joseph Kovacsics (Jan. 23, 1913 - Aug. 16, 1999)

Joseph ''Zip'' Kovacsics, 86, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 6:20 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 16, in the Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Kovacsics was born on Jan. 23, 1913, in South Bend, to Emery and Barbara Ko-vacsics, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Kovacsics, and a brother, James Kovacsics. On June 18, 1938, in South Bend, he married Agnes Nyikos, who died on Sept. 20, 1961. On Dec. 30, 1966, he married Elizabeth G. Bennett, who also preceded him in death.

He is survived by a daughter, Jo Ann Schosker of South Bend; a son, Joseph R. Kovacsics of San Francisco, Calif.; three grandchildren, Robert Schosker, III, Timothy Schosker and Barbara Hope; a brother, Richard Toth of Elkhart, Ind.; and by a special friend, Doris Whisler.

Zip will be remembered as an avid musician who played the violin, organ and piano for his friends an family. He also loved to garden, dance and make wine.

Those wishing to pay their respects will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday in the Jo Ann Schosker residence, 4004 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Cremation has taken place; burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

The Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, handled the arrangements.
