Timothy L. Kovas (May 12, 1958 -- Oct. 5, 2006)

Timothy L. "Tim" Kovas, 48, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2006. .

Tim was born, raised and lived throughout his life in South Bend. He felt comfort living in this community because it kept him close to his family. The most important aspect of his life was sharing exciting times with his children. He knew he could easily find close-by adventures to share with them such as trips to Chicago or a day on the beach at Lake Michigan. He did this solely to cherish and create everlasting memories.

Tim graduated from John Adams High School in 1977 and attended Indiana University before joining his father's business, Kovas Garage Door Company, in 1981. After the death of his father, Stephen D. Kovas, he continued to expand the business and was very devoted to his employees and customers.

Tim enjoyed the outdoors and going on frequent bike rides. He loved to read books and learning about history and science. He also loved tennis, euchre, Notre Dame football, making people laugh, and the idea of inventing. Most of all he loved being with his children. His life revolved around them and he would do absolutely anything to make them happy.

On September 29, 1984, he married Cheryl Morris and together they had daughters, Rachel and Kylie, and son, Aaron, who survive. Also surviving are his loving mother, Anne F. Kovas; sister, Dianne K. Papandria (Rocky); brother, John R. Kovas (Charisse); brother, Daniel C. Kovas (Cheryl); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen, his brother, David, his brother, Kenneth, and his sister, Kathleen.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 6 p.m. today, October 8, in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 9, in Saint Anthony De Padua Church, 2310 East Jefferson Blvd., South Bend. Interment will take place at a later date at Highland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Kovas Children College Fund," c/o Teachers Credit Union, PO Box 1395, South Bend, IN 46624.

Online condolences may be sent to hickeyfuneralhome.com.
