Joseph Kowalewski: (South Bend Tribune 3/14/1966)
Joseph Kowalewski, 75, of Rt. 1, North Liberty, died at 7:15 a.m. today in his home. A retired foreman for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, he was born on March 18, 1890, in South Bend. He was married on Nov. 24, 1913, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church at Terre Coupe, Ind., to Mary Paturalski, who survives. He was a member of the Legion of Mary Society. Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Julius of Bristol, Wis., John and Raymond of South Bend, and Harry of Warrenton, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. Stanley Jozwiak of North Liberty and Mrs. Thaddeus Wantuck and Mrs. Walter Bilinski of South Bend: 18 grandchildren: four great-grandchildren: a brother, Vincent, of North Liberty: and four sisters, Mrs. Agnes Reiter, Mrs. Katherine Nadolny, Mrs. Lillian Ewald and Mrs. Myrtle Maciejewski, all of South Bend. Friends may call after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Rev. Thomas Depa, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
