Richard W. Kowalewski, 33, Rt. 1, North Liberty, died Sunday night in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Hines, Ill., after an illness of nine months. Married Aug. 2, 1947 to the former Ruth Futa in South Bend, he was a grocer in Crumstown. He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Joyce N., at home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Kowalewski, and a sister, Mrs. Thelma Putz, all of North Liberty. Friends may call after 7:30 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. James G. Lesniak, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. He was a member of the Warren Twp. Volunteer Assn., the Crumstown Merchant Union Assn.; Pulaski Post 357, American Legion post, and Chapter 6, Disabled American Veterans, South Bend.
