SOUTH BEND - Wanda V. Kowalski, 96, of West Kenwood Avenue, died at 1 p.m. Thursday in Transitional Healthcare Center. Mrs. Kowalski was born Nov. 2, 1897, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On Sept. 2, 1919, in South Bend, as Wanda V. Leszcz, she married Peter R. Kowalski. He died Feb. 10, 1956. She is survived by two daughters, Esther Kukla and Virginia Wroblewski, both of South Bend; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A son, Joseph P., died Aug. 23, 1963. She was a member of Goodwill Club, Apostleship of Prayer, Confraternity of Holy Rosary, and Harvest House, all of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, and Polish Women's Alliance Group 305.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be at 4 p.m.
