George Edward Kritz

April 12, 1916 - July 17, 2002

George Edward Kritz, 86, was born in Mishawaka, Ind., on April 12, 1916. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Olga Weis. He is survived by two sons, Jay Richard (Debbie) Kritz of Lake Park, Fla., and James E. Kritz of Bridgeport, Conn.; a daughter, Katherine I. Hetzel of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; six grandchildren, Renee Bennet, Ronda Chamberlain, Kerry Turner, Aaron Kritz, Amy Kritz and Yvette Saterno; and by 10 great-grandchildren.

 

He had resided in South Bend, Ind., for over 50 years where he worked for both Greenwood's Shopping Center and Thrifty-Mart Grocery Stores, and served as president of the Clay Township Lions Club. He also served in the Navy during World War II in the USNAB Espiritie Santo N.H., decorated with the Asiatic Pacific Victory Medal, and was later an acting officer in the South Bend Division of the Naval Reserves. In 1967 he moved to West Palm Beach, Fla., where he and his wife owned and operated the Dog N Suds Drive-In Restaurant on Okeechobee Blvd.

 

Eddie, who embraced life, will be sadly missed by not only family, but loving friends, neighbors and past employees who cared so deeply. In your expressions of sympathy the family asks that you fondly remember Eddie in life and his daily expressions of joy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 1301 S. Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL.

 

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, July 21, in the Royal Palm Funeral Home, 5601 Greenwood Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL.
