Janeen K. Kromkowski, 60, of Lincoln
Way West in South Bend, Indiana, passed away Thursday, August 15,
2002, at Memorial Hospital after an illness. Mrs. Kromkowski was
born on March 28, 1942, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Wayne
E. & Martha L. (Grossnickle) Beard. She had
been employed as a Registered Nurse with Memorial Hospital of
South Bend and Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac, Michigan for 32
years. On August 10, 1963, as Janeen Beard, she married Thomas S.
Kromkowski, who survives. Surviving with her husband of 39 years
is her daughter, Julie (Michael) McSweeney of Atlanta,
Georgia; her son, Gregary (Misha) Kromkowski of Dallas, Texas;
grandchildren, Sean McSweeney, Tyler & Rex Kromkowski; a
sister, Sandra (Richard) Nowatka of Peru, Illinois; and a
brother, Gary (Karen) Beard of San Rafael, California.
Friends may call from 2-8 PM, Sunday, August 18, 2002, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Vigil service will be held at 7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Monday, August 19, 2002, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mrs. Kromkowski was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, graduated from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1963, was a member of the Memorial Hospital Alumni Association, where she served as past president and was a charter member of National Nurses for Life.
