July 1, 1884 – July 23, 1894

Mishawaka  Enterprise 7/27/1894

Monday afternoon last, Jessie, the ten year old son of John M. Kronewitter, together with two young companions, Fred Rinard and John Baabe, was playing in the Battell woods north of the park. The boys were engaged in climbing trees, and Jesse proceeded to out do his young companions by climbing to the very top of the highest hickory tree in the grove,

Suddenly, in some unaccountable manner, the boylost his hold, or a limb broke, and he went crashing to the ground with terrible violence. His freightened companions ran for help, but when assistance came, the boy was found to be past all help. Death was doubtless instantaneous. Coroner Varier held an inquest on the remains Tuesday, and the funeral was held at the residence on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
