South Bend Tribune 9/8/2008
SOUTH BEND - Zora Kubat, 83, passed peacefully to heaven in the early hours of Saturday morning, September 6th, at her home in South Bend. Zora was born in South Bend on December 31, 1924, to Manda (Baich) Yazich Kantar and Nikolas Yazich, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Milos Kubat of Boshia, Yugoslavia. She joins him and her brothers, Louis, Frederick and Peter Yazich, and Mike Mandich, and her sister, Julie (Yazich) Manzunski. She is survived by her three daughters, Mara (Jon) Vertrees of Ft. Myers, FL, Julie Kubat of South Bend and Dawn (David) Moffett of Mishawaka. She was the heart of a loving family which included seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews and their families. Zora was a graduate of Riley High School and was employed for over 20 years by Indiana Bell / Ameritech, where she was a member of the Pioneers of America. She was a devout member of the Saints Peter and Paul Serbian Orthodox Church where she was a member of the Circle of Servian Sisters, and was a former member of the Aleksa Shantich Choir. She was an avid reader and spent many hours at the South Bend Public Library. She also loved being outdoors and saw God's hand in the beauty of nature. Her greatest joy was in the time spent with her family. She was a guide and inspiration to her daughters. She encouraged them to find the good in others and to think positively. Her home was a welcoming place to her family and friends. In this time of sadness we all take comfort in the memory of her gentle strength, her kindness, and her encouragement over the years to "Have Faith."

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 South Kemble Ave., South Bend, where a prayer service will be held at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 10, in Saints Peter and Paul Serbian Orthodox Church, 59262 Keria Trail, South Bend. Contributions may be made in her memory to Saints Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church, 59262 Keria Trail, South Bend, IN 46614.
