Alice Kubiak

Dec. 18, 1910 - Aug. 27, 1996

Alice Kubiak, 85, of Arrowhead Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 9:55 a.m., Tuesday, in Regency Place Nursing Home.

Mrs. Kubiak was born in rural Dysart, Iowa, on Dec. 18, 1910 to Frank and Julia (Nachazel) Hadachek. She was educated in the country school and made her home in Traer, Iowa, before moving to South Bend. In 1962, she married Stanley Kubiak, who preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1970.

While in South Bend, Alice was employed for 28 years as a brake assembler for the Bendix Corporation and 13 years with the South Bend Moose Lodge 58. She also housed Notre Dame students for more than 30 years. When she was able, she enjoyed golfing and always going out and eating with friends, along with playing a good game of bingo. Alice also enjoyed the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

Alice is survived by a sister, Mildred Svoboda of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and three nephews, Larry Svoboda of Iowa City, Iowa, and Robert and Terry Hadachek, both of Dysart, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Stanley.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., today, in Overton Funeral Home, Traer, Iowa. Burial will follow at St. Vaclav Cemetery, Clutier, Iowa. Friends may call after 11 a.m., today, in the funeral home. Local arrangements are being made by the Kaniewski Funeral Homes, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a memorial service will be held next week.
