Dr. Frederick L. Kuhn, M.D.

July 20, 1915 - Dec. 14, 2001

Dr. Frederick L. Kuhn, M.D., 86, residing on Roosevelt Road, South Bend, died at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2001, in his home. Dr. Kuhn was born July 20, 1915, in Plymouth, Indiana. He was the son of Frederick H. and Nellie (Fife) Kuhn, and has been a lifelong resident of this community.

Dr. Kuhn received his Bachelor's degree from Manchester College, and graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine. He specialized in Occupational Medicine and served as the Medical Director for the Studebaker Corp., and many other companies.

Dr. Kuhn served in the United States Army from July 15, 1943, until his honorable discharge as a Captain on August 11, 1946. During Dr. Kuhn's military service he was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific region where he was a Medical Officer and Army Flight Surgeon.

On August 8, 1953, in Plymouth, Indiana, he married Shirley Schaefer, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Brenda Kuhn, M.D,. of Tenafly, New Jersey; two sons, Frederick L. Kuhn, M.D., of Ft. Myers, Florida, and William B. Kuhn, M.D., of Daytona Beach, FL.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2001, in Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Ronald Seitz, pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home.
