Opal Kunz

Opal ''Pat'' Kunz, 71, of Currant Road, Mishawaka, passed away at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, in Memorial Hospital. Opal was born July 25, 1925, in Mingo Junction, Ohio to the late Charles and Goldie (Stewart) McGee. Opal had lived in the South Bend-Mishawaka area since 1948, coming from Toledo, Ohio. Mrs. Kunz retired from the Penny Saver in 1986.

 

On February 14, 1948 in South Bend, she married Paul Kunz, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Kathryn Kunz, Karen Bland, Karolyn Kunz, all of Mishawaka; two sons, Kenneth and Kippy, both of Mishawaka; 11 grandchildren; one great grandson; one sister, Nancy Miller of Toledo, Ohio; one step-sister, Susie Knight of Calif.; and one step-brother, John Helman of Toledo, Ohio. One son Paul Thomas Kunz, Jr. preceded her in death in 1948.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528  Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. There will be a service by the Rebekah Lodge 72 of South Bend at 7 p.m. this evening. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, in the funeral home with Rev. Erskin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, Ind. Mrs. Kunz was Noble Grand Helena of Rebekah Lodge 72 of South Bend, State Assembly Officer for Rebekahs, past Chief Matriarch of L.E.A. of Rebekah Lodge 9, of South Bend, past President of L.A.P.M. of Rebekah Lodge 9, of South Bend and past President of North Penn Volunteer Fire Fighters Auxiliary.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Diabetes Association or Cerebral Palsy Foundation of Indiana.
