Irene T. Kurek (April 20, 1913 - Dec. 1, 2000)

Irene T. Kurek, 87, of Arrowhead Circle, South Bend, Ind., passed away following a brief illness at 7:20 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, in the Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on April 20, 1913 to the late Peter P. and Stella (Kolanowski) Bronski in North Judson, Ind., and had lived most of her life in South Bend.

On July 15, 1933, as Irene T. Bronski, she married Sylvester A. Kurek in South Bend. He died on July 1, 1979. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Stachowiak and Adeline Sinka.

She is survived by three sons, Robert Kurek and James Kurek, both of South Bend and Dennis Kurek of Knox, Ind.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and by four sisters, Eleanor Sczymanski, Mildred Kwiecinski, Loretta Gudates and Marlene Knefely, all of South Bend.

There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place with a Memorial Service at a later date. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.

The KANIEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, is handling arrangements.
