Raymond J. Lambert

SOUTH BEND - Raymond J. Lambert, 79, of North Elmer Street, died at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Lambert retired in 1981 as a pipefitter for Plumbers & Pipefitters Union Local 172. He was born April 9, 1915, in Kankakee, Ill., and lived in South Bend since 1941, coming from Kankakee.

 

On Feb. 6, 1937, in Crown Point, Ind., he married Beulah R. Pendell. She died May 25, 1969. In 1972, in South Bend, he married Mildred Banach. She died in May 1993. He is survived by a daughter, Marlene R. Kress of Laingsburg, Mich.; a son, Donald J. of Elkhart; three stepdaughters, Bobbi Lippens of Mishawaka, Melissa Mosher of Pierceton, and Karen Hollett of South Bend; two stepsons, Robert LaMontagne of Fort Wayne and Chris Banach of South Bend; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doreen Smith of Bakersfield, Calif.; and five brothers, Leonard, Adlor, Floyd, and Dale, all of Kankakee, and Donald of San Diego. He was a former member of Masonic Lodge 294, a member of Shriners Band, American Legion Post 50 Band, and Holy Cross Catholic Church.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., where a wake will be at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
