Richard P. Langel (May 9, 1921 – June 1, 1994).
SOUTH BEND – Richard P. Langel, 73, of Chipstead Drive, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday in his home after an illness. Mr. Langel was the former owner of Insurance Research Report, retired in 1983 from Indiana Insurance Co. as an adjuster after 26 years of service, and was an employee of Studebaker Corp. He was born May 9, 1921, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. On oct. 27, 1945, in South Bend, he married Eleanor E. Tschida. She survives with a son, Richard P. II of South Bend; two granddaughters and a brother, Irving J. of South Bend. He was past grand knight of Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553, a member of Father J.A. Nieuwland General Assembly 4th Degree, Indiana Adjusters Association, and was a veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, where Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553 will say the rosary at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc. and Gibault-Fundation, Inc.
