Leroy "Lee" Lawson

SOUTH BEND - Leroy "Lee" Lawson, 86, of South Bend, IN, departed this world at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, in Memorial Hospital. He was born in Elkhart, IN, to Frank Lawson and Nancy (Davis) Lawson on May 31, 1923. On July 30, 1965, in South Bend, he married the former Mary Kay Fisher. Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Lawson; three daughters, Linda Sadler of Niles, MI, Patricia Nieb of Niles, MI, and Nancy Kessler of New Carlisle, IN; three sons, Robert Lawson of South Bend, IN, Larry Lawson of Niles, MI, and John Lawson of South Bend, IN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Lola Smith of Vancouver, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Barbara Leyva; son, Kenneth Lawson; sisters, Mertie Schroeder and Medie Schroeder; and brothers, Raymond Lawson and Harvey Davis. Mr. Lawson was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in France. He was a past member of the Studebaker Drivers Club and the Model T Club. He retired from A.M. General in 1985. Mr. Lawson was a member of U.A.W. Local 5 and V.F.W. Post 360. He also was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Roosevelt Road. Per Leroy's request, cremation will take place. Southlawn Cremation Services, South Bend, is assisting the family. Friends may visit with the family from 5;00-7:00 p.m. today, May 27, 2010, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Leroy Lawson may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be sent to www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
