Ser5vices for Rev. James J. Leahy CSC, 77, of the University of Notre Dame, who died Friday night in St. Joseph Medical Center after an illness, will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame. Burial will be in Holy Cross Community Cemetery, on the campus. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. today at Moreau Seminary, where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.

 

Rev. Leahy was born Aug. 22, 1910 in Chicago. He made his first profession of vows in the Congregation of Holy Cross on July 2, 1929, and was ordained to the priesthood on June 24, 1939 at Notre Dame. During the years of his ministry he served at St. Edward’s University, Austin, Texas, as professor of philosophy and principal of the high school from 1941 to 1943; the University of Motre Dame as assistant to the president and prefect of discipline from 1944 to 1954; the University of Portland as a teacher from 1954 to 1967; and at Holy Cross House, Granger as chaplain to the brothers, where he was serving at his death.
