MISHAWAKA - Irene M. Leavens, 84, of
West 10th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 5:50 a.m. on
Sunday, Jan. 18, in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.
Mrs. Leavens was born on April 19, 1913, in Aalter, Belgium.
On June 29, 1935, in St. Bavo's Catholic
Church, as Irene M. Van De Putte, she married August B.
''Chip'' Leavens, who preceded her in death on March 17, 1989.
Mrs. Leavens is survived by a daughter, Nancy (John) Gruber
of South Bend; four grandchildren, Susan Mason, Judy
Gruber, John M. Gruber and Michael Gruber; and by 11
great-grandchildren. Mrs. Leavens was a member of the B-K Club
Ladies Auxiliary and St. Bavo's Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday
in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Rosary
will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Bavo's
Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
