SOUTH BEND - Mr. John Joseph Lee, 66, who resided on North Walnut Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 5:30 p.m., on Monday, March 15, 2010 at his residence following an illness. John was born to the union of Charles and Marie (Richards) Lee on April 11, 1943 in South Bend, Indiana who both preceded him in death. He was a self employed artist. His love was drawing, fishing, watching the history discovery channel and Clint Eastwood movies. John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marie Lee, two brothers, Robert and Charles Lee and one sister, Jeanette Lee. Survivors left to cherish his memory include his fiancée, Helen L. White, six daughters, Lucy (Larry) Smith of Augusta, Georgia, Felicia White and Delores (Donald) Willis both of Columbus, Ohio, Angela Smith of Goshen, Indiana, Scharoyne White and Patricia White, one son, Ernest White all of South Bend, Indiana, 38 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, three sisters, Arvelia Chism and Barbara Hudson both of South Bend and Catherine Wilson of West Chester, Ohio, three close friends, Rufus Norris, Charles "Bub-nose" Wright and Johnny "Sunny-boo" Holloway all of South Bend, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. John Joseph Lee will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Alford's Mortuary with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the chapel from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary where messages of bereavement may be e-mailed to Alfordsmortuary@comcast.net c/o: Lee family.
